...About Mary...

Mary Ann Bealby is a pen-name, not my real name. I chose this name because, to me, it recalls nostalgia  (it is a typical, old fashioned name with a great value of beauty and simplicity).

I am a young 'lady' living in the South of England;  well, youngish... I certainly feel much younger than my biological age.

I do feel that I have a manly attitude. I feel like a man in so many different ways. As Sheldon Couper often says, 'my mother had me tested'.

For those who wonder, I am, of course, not alone. I have a wonderful life and travel companion, I have found my soul mate. Yet, I am not defined by the existence of anyone in my life. I am 'Mary', I am myself. I am not the 'mother', 'girlfriend', or 'wife' of [add name here].

My business card is an empty card. Discover me and I will discover you back.

However, in real life, when people ask me, I tell them that I work as a freelancer and volunteer for the local community.

Also, I am a mature PG student (via distance learning) and I often review books, products and services - simply because I love sharing my views about everything.

I love reading. I read everything, from fiction to science. I am obsessed with knowledge and learning. I define education as the constant desire to learn, not as a university degree.

I am happily childfree, support gay rights and believe in equality for all.

I don't believe in racism and lookism and I 'never judge a book by its cover'.

I believe in goodwill and I practice it every day.

I have no religion, but I respect every single religion out there.

I don't do politics, but I follow politics as we all must stay informed about what happens around us.

As a 'lady' I see myself as a 'feminist', because I find the lack of equality between men and women in modern society (even in the West) upsetting.

I love cooking, gardening (growing flowers, fruit and veg), crafts and lazy weekends.

I exercise regularly, I eat healthily (well, I try to), I live for the moment and make the most of my free time.

I bake my own low-fat and low-sugar cakes and biscuits and share my recipes with friends.

I enjoy drinking cocktails and home-made liquors. I love making stuff, from knitting to woodwork.

I travel a lot. A lot. My dream job would be a travel job.

I leave traces behind. Internet cookie crumbs.

What am I? Enthusiastic, cheerful and bubbly. My weakest point? I sleep talk!

I deleted my facebook and twitter profile because I was tired pretending. I made this blog in return - and I express the real me on here, with all the blemishes included. This is the purpose of this blog. If you don't like it, please don't read it. We can't please everyone. It's as simple as that.
